Ethan Cochrane has worked off and on for IARII since 1995, initially as a field technician while attending graduate school at the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa. He earned his Ph.D. in 2004 studying ancient ceramics in Fiji. He was a lecturer (Assistant Professor) at the UCL Institute of Archaeology from 2005-2010 and returned to IARII as a Project Manager from 2010-2011. Dr. Cochrane is currently an Associate Professor in Anthropology at the University of Auckland. He has conducted field research in Hawaiʻi, Western Micronesia, Fiji, Sāmoa, and Papua New Guinea. His analytical work focuses on artefacts, environments, human demography, evolution, and ecology.
